Thriving Earth Exchange at the American Geophysical Union is seeking a wetland scientist (or similar) for a volunteer-based community project in Orange, Vermont.
The community, Sage Mountain Botanical Sanctuary, and their neighbors, are looking for someone with expertise to help establish ecological monitoring for a recently beaver-inhabited wetland in their care, and to investigate flood mitigation capacity, and the impacts of a nearby highway on water quality. The project will be co-developed, shaped by both the needs of the community and the expertise and interest of the scientist. Read more about the community and the project here. It's a great opportunity to build skills in this field and potentially collaborate on scientific research.
Our preferred candidate:
- Is based in the Northeast US with the ability to travel to Orange, Vermont for fieldwork.
- Has the experience to establish ecological monitoring independently.
- There is no formal education requirement - just the skill and the will!
- Is equity-minded and collaborative.
